How It Works.

We Manage Everything

ShortList is a white hat link building service. We essentially write guest posts and link to you, removing the onerous tasks of doing prospecting, outreach, writing, etc. Our goal is for you to sit back and get quality, DoFollow links.

We Conduct Rigorous Reviews

What makes ShortList different from many other link building services out there is our transparency and adherence to quality. We have a very rigorous review process, and we’re very open about it.

We Select Only the Best

We review thousands of potential targets and only approve a small fraction. We classify websites as “Good” and “Premium”. All websites have to meet the following standards, which guarantees that the website has Trust, Authority, and Organic Traffic.

Here are the metrics that make up our review process.

Moz Domain Authority

Measure of the power of a domain and is one of many search engine ranking factors. Domain authority is based on three factors: Age. Popularity, and Size. It is a logarithmic scale from 0-100, the higher the better.

Trust Flow / Citation Flow

A site has a high amount of Trust Flow and low Citation Flow means that the links pointing to that site are from very trustworthy sources. Typically this score is from 0 – 1 and the higher the better.

Referring Domains

Number of unique referring domains.

External Backlinks

Number of total backlinks.

Moz Spam Score

Number of Spam indicators out of 17 that are commonly found on penalized sites.

Ahrefs Organic Traffic

Estimate for monthly organic traffic.

  • Occasionally we run into websites that don’t pass all of our metrics. We manually review these, and if we feel that it’s still a legitimate, authoritative website, we’ll go for it. We report on all the metrics for the links we achieve, so you’ll always be in the loop.
  • Additionally, all websites are manually reviewed by a human to classify their niche.
  • The end result is quality, relevant links to your business, which will help it gain authority and rank higher in the SERPs.
  • On top of that, we only work with quality writers. Our articles average 1400 words, and we require a minimum of 800. We also ask writers to include authority links like Wikipedia and images. We review every article before it is sent to the blogger. While not all of our writers are native English speakers (though some are), they all have an extremely high proficiency to the point that I personally often can’t tell the difference.

How long are the links guaranteed for?

We guarantee them for 12 months. There’s no reason why it shouldn’t be “forever”, but we can’t have people coming back to us in 3 years asking for a refund because someone decided to shut down their site, so 12 months seems reasonable.

What’s the minimum order?

You can order as few or as many as you want.

Do you use PBNs?

We personally don’t own any sites that we work with. Our standards are designed to weed out low quality websites, PBNs, etc. Regardless, we cannot guarantee that the site is not somebody’s PBN, as that’s very hard to tell.

Can I choose the websites and/or review the articles beforehand?

We discourage this because it interrupts the flow and slows down delivery. That is why we have a rigorous review process so you can trust us to choose the write sites for you.

Do you pay the bloggers?

On occasion, yes. Some bloggers request money for the time it takes to review the article and post it, which in our opinion is fair. This is not disclosed in the article.

What’s the turn around time?

For a standard order of around 5-10 links our goal is around 6 weeks. This is due to the amount of time it takes to secure the opportunities, write the article, and communicate with the blogger. Regardless we send updates at the beginning of each month.

Can I choose the targets / keywords?

If you’re not happy with a link, just let us know and we will remove it from your invoice.

Am I the only one in the post?

It is part of the business model to try to include several clients in a single article. This is what allows us to keep the prices reasonable. We only include relevant, non competing clients in in each article.

Anything else?

Very occasionally we might permit a site that is slightly lower than the metrics that we advertise here. Most likely this is a site that is on the border, which we’ve manually reviewed and feel is quality.
